Why It Is So

I have always like to do snapshots of my outfit of the day this way.

I Wear Queenbels Guess My Outfit

It shows almost everything I am wearing outside for the day. It includes the shoes and the bag that I have picked to match my outfit. And also the recommended bottom piece to go with if I am wearing a top piece from Queenbels.

And if I can make it, I will do a full body snapshot like this:

I Wear Queenbels Passion Pleats Blouse and Nicole Drape Vest

Or if I have someone with me, I will do shoots like this:

It is a straight forward and simple business for me when it comes to taking snapshots of my outfit for the day. The utmost important thing is to portray the outfit that I have put together with the apparel carried by Queenbels.

If I am wearing a dress for the day, the focus will be on showing how that particular dress looks like on myself.

If I am wearing a blouse for the day, the focus will be on showing how that top piece looks like on myself, the recommended bottom piece to match the top piece.

If I am wearing an outer wear, the focus will be on showing what I layer it with.

I make sure the photos are informative (where I get the accessories, shoes from), useful and as clear as possible. So you won’t find me doing special stunts or effects kind of photo.

It says alot about how I run Queenbels too. It’s very straight-forward at Queenbels. I sell clothes. I sell clothes that I have specially picked for my regular close clients. We don’t have gimmicks here. We don’t do crazy sales nor have yoyo prices. We price our merchandises accordingly and I try my best to bring the most beautiful apparel to you at the best price possible. We will not sell you horrible stuffs, at all. We do what we can within our resources to bring you the best shopping experience in our cosy space.

So if you are looking for a lady apparel boutique to put your money on quality womenswear, uniquely detailed dresses at very affordable prices and personal good service from myself, you should come to Queenbels and nowhere else.

How Do I Choose My Bags To Match My Outfits

I get questions quite often on how do I choose my bags to go with my outfits.

Bags are just like my earrings, necklaces, rings, are accessories, a functional one that carries my personal belongings when I head out. It should complement and must not overtake my outfit for the day.

How Do I Choose My Bags

Here are a few main points I run through in my head when a bag catches my eye.

1) Colour

Before I go out to acquire a new bag, I make a mental note of what colours I have in my wardrobe now. I categorise my apparel colours into two main spectrums; cool (eg. blue, green) and warm (eg. red, yellow).

Generally, bags in nude (think of colour like pinkish beige)and black colours are the safe colours most ladies go for. However, sometimes nude colour is too safe a colour and doesn’t play up your outfit. Black is a strong colour and it can be too much contrast with most apparel colours. Even with full black colour outfit, I don’t recommend a black colour bag.

Over the years, I have invested in a few trend lasting bags. They are mostly in shades of gold, dark camel, toffee, milk chocolate brown, pink and sky blue. These are the ones I will carry when I wear my pastel shades apparel. I pay attention to the colour of the hardware too. Black, red, pink colour bags with gold hardware is classy. I usually carry black, red, pink bags when I wear apparel in warm shades.

2) Size

Unless you are travelling out of the country, you are just going out for a day, be it to work or just to run an errand, so there is no need to carry the whole world with you. Leave your tablet and any other gadgets at home if you don’t need it for work. So essentially you have your wallet, keys, a vanity pouch, mobile phone and maybe an umbrella. Look for a bag in a size that fits just nice for your personal belongings. If you really need to lug a big bag around, with many things inside, try to hand carry instead of over your shoulders. Long period of heavy bags on your shoulders is bad for the back and waist.

I go for top-handle handbags of about 25-30cm base length, especially when I am in a dress. If I must use a handbag with sling, it will be no bigger than an A4 size.

Think about it;
Wearing a flowy chiffon pleats dress, big tote bag on shoulder.
Not a good idea.

I like to go mini. For a mini bag, I look for one with compartments so that I can slot in my cards and dollar notes. Such mini bag is like a jumbo wallet with sling attached and houses my mobile phone and keys while I am on the move.

Rule of thumb, the bigger the bag, the more stuff you will put inside. So, time to de-clutter your bag.

3) Brand

Do your research. I don’t buy brands. I buy bags. I am not a die hard fan of any specific bag brands and I don’t encourage you to be one. From time to time, there will be new brands in the market and I think it is good to explore and get to know new brands. Getting to know a brand before I put my money down is something I like to do. The make, the thoughts behind the design, are things the designer of the bag is very proud of and I think buyers should learn to appreciate. When it comes to buying bags, I find that it’s a very personal thing. Don’t buy to impress and don’t buy a particular brand simply because other people have it too. I was saying this jokingly to someone, that buying a bag is like finding a boyfriend. It’s very personal and cannot take reference.

I am not going to recommend any specific “good” bag brands because like I have said earlier, buy a bag, not a brand. Think about your requirements of a bag, allocated budget (spend within your limits) and what you really like.

4) Upkeep

I was asked too, how I upkeep my bags. My way of upkeeping is to keep using them. I rotate my bags very frequently, because I make it a point to carry a bag that complements my outfit. Bags are bought to be used, not to keep and store like an antique. Especially leather goods. The more you use it, the more seasoned it is, the more beautiful it will become. Don’t worry about if your luxury bag is going to fall apart if you keep using it. By the time if it really falls apart, you would have use it for a very long time already and the cost per use is already accountable for.

Good Things Must Share

I get questions on this bracelet quite often. I personally like this brand of leather goods very much.

My Pascher Bracelet

I chance upon this leather goods brand when I was in Taiwan. That was about two years ago. The shopfront design has this antique feel and I really like it.

I set my eyes on their array of leather bracelets and this particular design attracted me. I never had any leather accessories. I think they are for the people who can rock it and I don’t think I can carry it.

I put it on and it took me less than a minute to say “Please wrap it up.” The sales person knew we were from Singapore and told me that they have a branch in Singapore. When I returned, I couldn’t locate them at the said address. I finally found them at a pushcart. Apparently the insane rental cost has drove them to move to a pushcart.

Last Christmas, I bought this special Lovers key ring for a friend which I think she can share with her husband.

Whenever I am in the area, I will pop by their pushcart to check their new designs. Now they have the bracelet in a new colour, blue. The husband agreed this is a unique colour, so yes I bought it. I got it engraved too. Engraving is free.

If you like leather goods in classic design and made with good workmanship, check them out. I don’t care if this is by any luxury brand. I care about design and quality that I can accept. The pushcart name is Oki Ma, located at Bugis Junction, inside the glass-covered air-conditioned shopping streets. It is in between SingTel shop and SASA. Further down you will see Ajisen Ramen.

I am not paid to recommend them nor affiliated to Pascher in any way. I just want to share the good things.

Maybe you can pop over this weekend.

Enjoy your weekend!

Some of the Beautiful Numbers I Kept

Tri Colour Chiffon Tunic

Baby’s Breath Dress

Nautical Buttons Blouse in Red/White Stripes

Mini Pleats Front Collar Blouse in Mustard

I am always very proud of the beautiful pieces that I scout for my webstore and I can never resist picking a few for my personal wardrobe. Yes, a few out of the many. Most of the designs are available in very limited quantities and therefore I have to give my customers priority to own them.

I personally favour tunics very much. I like the relaxed fit design. I have almost all the tunics that I have brought back for my webstore. With no exceptions, I have also picked two tunics in the latest selection for my personal wardrobe.

Tri Colour Chiffon Tunic

This has become my first chiffon tunic. I like the soft, light-weight material and the luscious look when I match it with a pair of tights. This is so comfortable when I need to run errands and it is very suitable for weekend activities. Be it on a shopping trip, a chill-out at a cafe or a stroll in the park.

Baby’s Breath Dress

This number is also a first for me. My first terry knit tunic. I am so pleased with the overall design using a combination of cotton and terry knit, the zip at the left shoulder front to add a detail and the use of terry knit on the sleeve holes. I will match it with a pair of light-colour leggings and a pair of flats.

Nautical Buttons Blouse in Red/White Stripes

Mini Pleats Front Collar Blouse in Mustard

I have very few sleeveless blouses. Some arm holes in sleeveless blouses are too wide for my arms. A well-constructed sleeveless blouse has proportionate arm hole length in line with the size of the blouse, not too small, not too wide. I am very careful with apparels in stripes print. We all know how vertical lines create a slim look and how horizontal lines widens our body visually. The Nautical Buttons Blouse in Red/White Stripes comes in vertical stripes print, designed with draped sides and a smart standing pointed collar. Neat sewing is a big pull factor that draws me to like it.

I grew to like pleats when I started to wear apparels in pleats earlier this year. I have Gianna Pleated Dress and Scarlett Pleated Maxi Skirt. Mustard is a colour I did not have and I personally think it is a gorgeous summer colour. So now Mini Pleats Front Collar Blouse in Mustard is a proud addition to my personal wardrobe.

All beautiful pieces above are now available, right here at

I Love Classics

I like to keep my daily outfits simple. I believe in classics because it will never fall out of fashion. This is pretty evidence in the apparels I have brought in for my e-shop. Presenting classics that will bring you across a couple of seasons is never easy. It has to fulfill a couple of criteria in my personal style. Firstly it has to be in a lasting shade and I don’t mean black, white or blue. Pastel colours like beige, cream, light blue and pale violet are colours to keep. You need the lighter colours to balance out. Secondly, the cut of the apparel has to be kept fuss free. Thirdly, maintenance ie washing and cleaning must be simple. I will only engage dry cleaning services for my winter coats.

Lunar New Year is just four days away. It is a must in our tradition to put on new clothes and shoes to welcome a brand new year. I have waited for the longest time to put on the Faye Front Ruffles Chiffon Blouse in Peru to welcome the year of Dragon. I love this number so much that I have specially kept it for the Lunar New Year. The front ruffles are gorgeous and are the highlighted details of this simple blouse. The ruffles fall back in place without ironing. The trick is to hang up the blouse right after washing. I am going to match it with a demin skirt. I prefer skirts more than jeans. Stylish and yet not lose the feminine side. Oh and not forgetting my favourite pair of ballerina flats.

I hardly do layering. Sometimes the sun can be rather unforgiving. But hey that is not going to make me a dull Jane in my attire. When I first saw the Rebecca Rocker Vest, I know I just have to bring this to my e-shop. Structured ruffles on a vest is the attraction. The ruffles are well crafted. One of my e-shop client said this look like an art piece. Yes, exact first impression. I love how it plays up a simple tank top immediately. The colour is so pleasing to the eye. Laundry care is as simple as the Faye Front Ruffles Chiffon Blouse.

If you like to keep your outfits simple and sophisticated, like I do, the two pieces above are for keeps. If you think wearing the auspicious red for Lunar New Year is so old fashion, put on some pastel shades. You can keep the black, white and blue for another time.
