Style File on Lunar New Year 2013

Before and during the Lunar New Year, I had shared snapshots of the ongoings on my home front and the outfits I put together, on our Facebook page and on Instagram (@queenbels).

I went pink this year, including a pair of pink colour shoes which I have yet share a photo of it.

You may find the Pleated Collar Ruffles Chiffon Dress foreign because I have not share any photos of this dress on the social media.

The Pleated Collar Ruffles Chiffon Dress was a complete sell-out. Every piece was sold very quickly each time I put up a new piece. I only managed to capture a snapshot of this beautiful number just before it was grabbed by a lovely regular customer.  This dress comes in pink violet and camel. I have secured a limited quantity restock for the camel colour. I hope I can do a restock on the pink violet colour too. I will keep everyone updated on the restock status on the Facebook page, so stay tuned.

What I Wore On Lunar New Year Day 3

Checks Peplum Blouse was first introduced last year at one of our mini bazaars. This pretty blouse comes in pink/white checks and blue/white checks. I couldn’t find a bottom piece that fits me so I didn’t have a chance to put on this blouse earlier. I was so happy when my favourite basic apparel store did a restock of this leggings pants in new series of colours. The shade of pink on the leggings pants is almost the same as the shade of pink on my blouse and the size fits! A restock was done on the Checks Peplum Blouse and is still available for purchase in our private showroom.

When I Was Sixteen… And Now

“You must be a Literature student, or like Jane Austen very much.”

I can’t remember the exact words but these are the gist of a comment made by a lovely customer when she set her sight on our Chiffon Puff Sleeves Dress.

I have a soft spot for long skirts and dresses. When I was sixteen, I thought I would look pretty and all fairy looking like in long skirt or dress flowing along with the wind, while my mum got very worried that my long skirt or dress would get stepped on and torn when I alighted from the bus.

Picture that?

That was when I was sixteen.

Sometimes I wonder if I also wanted to look like Cinderella or Snow White subconsciously. Remember their attires in the storybooks? Long dresses with puff sleeves.

The one dress that left the deepest impression in me is a long dress with puff sleeves in mini checks that I bought at a bazaar in my teens. It has a gathered scoop neckline complete with a ribbon in the centre. I shouldn’t have clear that away from my wardrobe. I can’t find a similar dress over the years. If only mobile phones with cameras were available at that time, I will have a photo of it now.

I have pretty much bring that part of my teenage dressing dreams into adulthood and the selections I am presenting in Queenbels.

This is how the Chiffon Puff Sleeves Dress made her way into my selection. Available in colours of peach and apple green.

The clever use of smaller pleats below the neckline and bigger pleats below the bust has created the look of an empire cut, minus the cut-in below the bust. The puff sleeves are complete with gathered hems and hidden seams.

Apple green is such a refreshing and pleasing colour to the eye. If you want to start adding pastel colours to your wardrobe, this is a nice colour to begin with.

Rose Beauty

If you ask me how I decide on the designs to introduce in every selection, I will tell you it’s my feel.

I do not produce my own designs at this moment. I do have designs stored in my mind. For example, if I want to introduce a dress suitable for a wedding dinner, I will look out for details like having ruffles or embroidery, the cutting of the dress, mini or big pleats and so on.

I still very much stick to two points when acquiring new designs for the shop; classic and versatile. By now you would have notice the continuation of the above traits in the latest selection.

I have heard comments from ladies who had bought dresses for just one single function and never wear it again. Especially for annual company dinner and dance and wedding dinner. Another headache is getting a dress if you are going to be bridesmaid or brides-to-be who are buying or renting suitable dresses for their bridesmaids. I think buying that dress is definitely more worth the money if it is affordable and versatile for daily wear.

In the latest selection, I have introduced a chiffon dress that is so perfect for the bridesmaid. The gorgeous roses sewn onto the sleeves are so pretty in real life. The design and colour is so picture perfect.

I selected four colours; pink violet, cream, light orange and teal. Each colour has its own uniqueness and character, just like each individual bridesmaid.

Each dress comes with a detachable matching colour sash which allows you to wear the dress on its own or with a defined waistline.

What surprises me is, I have mothers-to-be who came looking for a dress for the coming Lunar New Year and found this Chiffon Pleats Dress with Rose Sleeves a perfect fit. The generous use of fabric to create the pleats has resulted a size suitable for the glowing mothers-to-be. They can continue to wear this dress after giving birth. This is real versatility.

So brides-to-be, if you are looking for dresses for your bridesmaids, do look at this gorgeous dress. I think it’s wonderful to give this dress to your bridesmaids and they can keep it after your wedding for fond memories.

I Found My Maxi Skirt

Posted on

I have problem finding the right maxi skirt. I have an average height. Most maxi skirts in the local stores are too long for me. The length is long enough to become a train for me.

The first maxi skirt I introduced on my webstore was Scarlett Pleated Maxi Skirt with glitter waistband. I love the two-way wear; as a maxi skirt or as a strapless dress. The glitter waistband adds a touch of glamour and the mini curl hem is so pretty. It will be perfect if it is in full circle skirt.

The search continues for the next maxi skirt. This time I hope I can find something in full circle skirt. Then I found these:

Chiffon Maxi Skirt in Purple

Chiffon Maxi Skirt in Teal

The length is just right for me. Yes it is in full circle skirt and it’s in purple and teal! The generous use of fabric to create the pleats at the waistband results in a pretty full circle skirt. The use of chiffon fabric adds a nice soft touch and is so flowy.

Customers who share the same maxi skirt agony as me are so delighted when they put on this chiffon maxi skirt. The length is just right and both colours are so unique and versatile in the colour matching with top pieces.

The purple colour piece is selling out fast and now I am left with one last piece. If you have petite height, love maxi skirts and have problem finding the right one, this might be the one you need.

Guess what colour did I keep?

Cheers,
Shirley

What I Am Wearing This Christmas

1 Day to Christmas Eve!

I hope everyone has already got their outfits all ready for the coming Christmas celebration. If you haven’t, you still have a couple of hours on Christmas Eve to find that dress you want.

I have received questions on recommended outfits for a Christmas lunch, dinner or party. I think I shall share what I am wearing this Christmas. Maybe this will help.

I have shortlisted two dresses for this coming Christmas.

Chiffon Layered Dress in Fuchsia

Chiffon Layered Dress in Fuchsia

The Chiffon Layered Dress in Fuchsia (available in Teal too) is one of the new arrivals in the latest selection. I like the crinkled chiffon fabric, the layers are so soft to the touch. I especially like the full skirt that begins at waist down to knee length which gives a beautiful swirl at a slight turn. I am going to match it with a pair of nude colour pumps and a pair of silver ear studs. Oh, and a nice small hand-carry bag.

Crayon Print Dress

Crayon Print Dress

The Crayon Print Dress is a very fun number and was introduced at our mini bazaar earlier this year in August. A very lovable dress and stands out among the full colour dresses. The crayon print is the main highlight of the dress and the drape front is a detail I personally like very much.

Now the question is, which dress do I wear to the Christmas Eve dinner? Which dress to wear on Boxing Day?

I have 1 day to decide!

Cheers,
Shirley

P.S. The showroom will be open on Christmas Eve, 24/12/2012, from 11am to 4pm. Come get something pretty for yourself. I see you.
